Mapping Miranda’s World
Below are several maps I made using Google Earth and Photoshop. These were among the first content I created, once I knew the basic nature of the story (a young woman runs drugs upriver for a crazy preacher). They were crude but effective in that they helped me understand the spatial relationships between key locations in Miranda’s world, as well as work through the logistics of her three final runs up the Prosper. Hey, maps worked for Tolkien, right?

Here’s a song list that inspired parts of the book, as well as established its world. The book draws deeply on country and gospel music. Most of these reflect some aspect of the story, either through imagery or theme.
